Selection Guide

Important: Calculations have been based upon the average modern fractional racing boat. Sail area, different rigs, heavy or light displacement, multihull or monohull are all factors which affect a yacht's specifications.Loadings should be obtained from the designer and matched to the safe working load of the hardware.If you would like further assistance please contact your nearest Lewmar office with the following details: Type of Boat, LOA, Beam Draft, Displacement (Loaded), number of crew on windward rail and sail dimensions I, J, P and E.

 
To stop the grind Lewmar powered winches provide push button control, combined with the features and benefits of the Ocean Self-Tailing winch. The powered range is available in sizes 40 to 144, providing quiet hands free operation on sailboats between 9m (30ft) and 18m (60ft). Combing the Ocean winch and power pack provides a perfect combination of drum speed, power and torque which ensures smooth and efficient sail trimming.

Power with Manual Option

  • 1 speed power & 2 speed manual (L40–64).
  • 2 speed power drive 2 or 3 speed manual (L66–77).

Safety Overload Cut-Out

Lewmar’s unique Safety Overload Cut-Out protects the winch from overload. A function only offered by Lewmar. Whilst a manual override facility is available for back up, or as a means of experiencing traditional sailing.
 
Push Button Power


Push button power eliminates the grind whilst retaining the pleasures of sailing. Combining this with Lewmar’s Wavespring Self-Tailer offers the closest feeling to hands-free sailing.

 
High Efficiency Motor


By using a high efficiency motor battery drain is minimised, whilst a perfect combination of drum speed, power and torque is provided to ensure smooth and efficient sail trimming

 

Mounting Instructions
6 x M8 (5/16 in) c’sk head screws on 165mm (6 1/2 in) PCD. Lewmar recommend that the rope enters onto the drum at an angle of 5º to 10º to the base axis of the winch. To achieve this angle it may be necessary to use a base wedge when installing the winch.
