SmartPilot System for outboard hydraulic steering systems with ram capacities between 4.9 and 10.5 cubic inches (80cc - 172cc). Package comes with no rudder feedback.

Ideal for longer passages, the response function controls how the pilot helms the boat, ensuring the most comfortable ride at all times, while keeping you right on course.

SmartPilot corepacks with built in rate gyro bring autopilot performance to a new level. The rate gyro enables Raymarine?s AST (Advanced Steering Technology) software to intelligently monitor the pitch and roll of the vessel and actually anticipates course changes. A specially developed course control algorithm then delivers razor sharp course keeping without instability or overshoot. This gyro enhanced autopilot performance and advanced software is especially valuable in difficult steering situations, such as downwind with a following sea. Raymarine?s AST software also enables rate gyro equipped SmartPilots to ?AutoLearn? the vessels steering characteristics, simplifying calibration and allowing the autopilot to constantly ?adapt? to changing sea conditions.
With a SmartPilot you can?
Maintain a razor sharp course with smooth, crisp and controlled turns right onto your next heading with Advanced Steering Technology (AST)* software and the new G-series course computers.

Stay right on course when the going gets tough ? use Fastrim AST to correct any changes in standing helm to keep the vessel on course (i.e. weather helm or loss of one engine).

Control the way the pilot steers your boat using Sensitive Response AST* for the most comfortable ride or to conserve power on long sail passages.

Make cross track error a thing of the past ? use your inboard pilot with a Raymarine GPS to track straight to your next waypoint.

Set your pilot up for optimum performance using the intelligent AutoLearn* and AST* software that automatically learns your boat?s handling characteristics.

Rate Gyro stabilized heading output for MARPA and Radar/Chart Overlay*.
G-series course computers also provide accurate and stable heading data for MARPA and chart overlay functions on Raymarine?s Pathfinder radars and chartplotters.

  • Available in easy-to- buy pre configured SmartPilot System Packs. All-in-one box autopilot solutions with corepack, control head and drive unit conveniently packaged together.

Behind the autopilot control head is the intelligence hub of the system, the Corepack. Consisting of an advanced course computer, fluxgate compass and rudder feedback, the Corepack is an integral part of the autopilot system.

Corepack components explained

Course Computer
The course computer is the intelligence behind your autopilot system. It includes a powerful microprocessor, programmed with all the steering know-how we've gained over many years and hundreds of thousands of boats. The course computer performs the main course keeping function and also houses the electronic control circuitry for the drive unit and power amplifier. NMEA inputs and outputs enable it to operate easily with equipment from other manufacturers. A SeaTalk interface provides connection to the control head and communication with other Raymarine devices.

Fluxgate Compass
The fluxgate compass module houses a state-of-the-art electronic compass mechanism, capable of tracking your boat's heading with incredible accuracy. The mechanism is gimballed, enabling it to handle pitch and roll movements up to +/-35o. The fluxgate compass connects directly to the course computer. It mounts on a bulkhead below decks on most boats; if yours is a steel-decked boat, the compass will be mounted above decks, out of the reach of magnetic interference.

Rudder Reference Transducer
This transducer performs a vital role too: it tells the course computer the precise position of your boat's rudder at all times. the rotary model is most commonly required; the linear model is used for hydraulic outboard steering systems. The rotary model is mounted adjacent to the rudder stock, while the optional linear model is mounted on the bullhorn ram of outboard engines

The Type 1 hydraulic drive is compatible with both S1/S1G and S2/S2G corepacks. Use the table below to determine the Type 1 hydraulic drive's capacity when used with each corepack
